It usually boils down to this: Buy it from the place that's the most convenient for you or compatible with your principles/beliefs.

I hold much respect for developers working Independently and doing what they do, so if the option is available I'll get the game directly from the devs.

I was just stating my general approach to purchasing indie titles, as a matter of fact I pre-ordered Amnesia directly from the frictional store!

I have just bought it from the Frictional store, paying out an extra 3 quid over the Steam version becuase I thought i'd get a Steam key. I didn't get one Sad.

Wish I'd gone with Steam in the first place now. It was 3 quid cheaper.
