Never played a game like this before. Love it. I'll order penumbra. What other games are out there that are similar to Amnesia and Penumbra?

Love the atmosphere
Graphics are great
Like not having a weapon
Scary
Puzzles are nice. I didn't think I'd like them, but I found them fun.
Voice acting was excellent
Well written for the most part

Scratches comes immediately to mind. However it is not 3D, but rather an old school point and click adventure game.

The same people also have this one coming one. Looks promising.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. There's weapons, but large parts of the game (like the first 1/3) you can't get any. Plenty of stealth. Some puzzles, but most aren't difficult. Great atmosphere. It has plenty of bugs, though.

Darkness Within maybe. It's a straight-up adventure game though. I thought it had a good story and atmosphere (very Lovecraftian), but the critics tore it apart when it was released. Probably because of the slow pacing and antiquated graphics.

The other game that comes immediately to mind is Call of Cthulu.

For a non Lovecraftian game, I suggest System Shock 2. Look here for mods and tips to get running in W7. http://www.systemshock.org/index.php

Darkness within 2: Very similar to Penumbra, but it doesn't have mosnters chasing you. It's still very creepy.
Call of Cathulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth: A stealth FPS game which is very creepy.

I would suggest Clive Barker's Undying.

I also played Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, but I found it tedious and long. Near the end I actually gave up because it was so repetitive.

Undying had a better story, too, in my opinion. In both games you have weapons. There are games without weapons out there but I wouldn't say that the game has to have no weapons in order to be good.

I think it's worth mentioning that Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is really only worth playing on an Original Xbox. The PC version seems to have game breaking, impassible glitches from what I've been told (my copy wouldn't even install on Windows XP so I don't have first hand experience Sad). As for playing it on the 360, I highly recommend you don't because sound and music cuts out at specific points, one being my favorite part in the game (the first time you encounter enemies) and a horror game without sound or music just isn't scary.
