I found an earlier way to complete the game (spoilers). - red pharoah - 09-21-2010

SO basically I tried something and found out you can complete the game earlier than intended (oh u frictional)

Spoiler below!
When you get all the orb pieces and proceed to get captured, you can just wait in the cell for like 20 minutes (during of which the room will slowly get filled with slime) after that your screen will turn red, you hear flash-back-ish screams, and then the slime kills you... then you get the bad ending.

Sorry if it was pointed out before.

And of course this isn't as fun as going through the rest of the game.

nah I was replaying the game with commentary so I already know how to get out.

Well, yeah, the Alexander states the fact that you cab wait for a Shadow in the Cells and accept the fate, but... as you can see from my screens (first 2) in this post - I spent like a... hour in the Cells and didn't get that ending.
Weird.

it appears to go faster as you interact with objects (try to pull the iron bar, then the not-so-loose one, Attempting to open the door, actually breaking the bricks but not grabbing the wood behind it, etc. etc.

In these 20 minutes, can't you complete the game faster if you play normal and know what to do? I mean you have to wait 20 minutes... Still nice!

Is this the "third way to get out" that Jens mentions in the commentary node there (this alternative ending)? I noticed there was a second loose bar that wouldn't break off despite pummeling it with a bucket. I had a feeling that breaking that bar would provide the third method, but I just couldn't figure it out. Maybe you need acid for it? I just don't know.
