Syberia III and beyond 2D - Radiance - 07-31-2016

What I found interesting is:
Quote:In an interview given in February 2011, BenoƮt Sokal revealed that work on the game had not even started due to a lack of funding. He says that he would want to use real-time 3D graphics comparable to those of Assassin's Creed. However, that would require a very large budget. He states that developing the game on the same engine as Syberia I and II is not an option because that would lead to a commercial failure.

Well, funding is always an issue.
What do you think about second part that it would be commercial failure if not made in 3d?

For example, would you be interested in playing Amnesia and SOMA if it would be made completely 2D?

Could 2D style be suspenseful and athmospheric as 3D ?

Good to know, I really liked that game. c:
The game offers a nice experience -both Siberia 1&2-, you hardly get stuck so it lets you focus more on the story, sometimes you feel you're chasing a carrot because of the main objective. It also has this rare feeling of loneliness on most of the scenarios, I don't know how they achieve this.

It's a good game but it's one of those you wouldn't play again because of the game length and pace speed.

This perhaps made my week. I'm a long time fan of Syberia and I was under the assumption that the 3rd would never be made, though perhaps that's my pessimistic view I've created due to the faults of Valve. Thank you for the share.

Well, each to his own, but I've played both Syberia I and Syberia II four times since they were released, all playthroughs were on the PC. Smile

I think it's nonsense that Sokal thinks the game would be a "commercial failure" if released in 2D. There are a lot of 2D games these days, many of them indie titles but what does that matter? A great game is a great game.

I also have a hunch that due to going the 3D route Syberia III is going to be more action oriented and that would be a hell of a shame if so. I loved the first two simply because of the feeling of loneliness that was ever present. They were, on the whole, very peaceful and relaxing games.
