Renderer #0 Issues - Crookie - 12-13-2010 Hey guys, I bought the game yesterday and haven't been able to get it work, I get the 'FATAL ERROR: Renderer #0 could not be initialized! Make sure your graphic card drivers are up to date. Check log file for more information.' Message. I know that all I need to do is update my drivers, but i'm not very computer savvy so i'm not sure how to do that. I managed to find out my graphics card was intel, and I used the identification utilty to find this: SYSTEM INFORMATION Computer Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard Computer Model 1484 Operating System (O/S) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Operating System Build (O/S) (build 7600), 32-bit Operating System (version) 6.1.7600 System RAM 2.9 GB CD or DVD Device hp CDDVDW TS-L633N Graphics Product [1] Mobile IntelĀ® 4 Series Express Chipset Family Graphics Driver Version 8.15.10.2226 3D Acceleration Yes Hardware Transform & Lighting Support Yes Video Memory 1.3 GB Vertex Shader Support 4.0 Pixel Shader Support 4.0 Microsoft DirectX* Version 10.0 Graphics Product [2] Mobile IntelĀ® 4 Series Express Chipset Family Would anyone be able to tell me if it even works on my laptop and if it does, which driver to download? That would be very much appreciated. Thanks, M. EDIT: I've also attached the HPL.log file to this thread. RE: Renderer #0 Issues - Crookie - 12-13-2010 Any idea on what I should do? RE: Renderer #0 Issues - xiphirx - 12-13-2010 I'm afraid you can't run Amnesia with an integrated Intel card... RE: Renderer #0 Issues - xiphirx - 12-13-2010 Yeah, the card doesn't support some features that HPL2 (engine that powers Amnesia) uses. I know, it's pretty disappointing. Maybe Frictional should put a warning somewhere on the steam page... Yep, just wasted $11 RE: Renderer #0 Issues - xiphirx - 12-13-2010 (12-13-2010, 05:36 AM)Crookie Wrote:(12-13-2010, 05:17 AM)xiphirx Wrote: Yeah, the card doesn't support some features that HPL2 (engine that powers Amnesia) uses. Well there's the possibility of getting an appropriate video card, unless you're using a laptop... RE: Renderer #0 Issues - danielchessell - 12-13-2010 This issue is also occurring for me with an Nvidia Optimus based card. The issue I suspect is that at startup the launcher wants to pop up. Running amnesia.exe directly (with preference for the Geforce 310M graphics processor and as Administrator) still brings up the launcher. This may be as I have yet to get the game to run. Is there any way to stop the launcher from popping up? The hpl.log shows: Renderer: Intel® HD Graphics Version: 2.1.0 - Build 8.15.10.2189 I can only assume that the launcher forces Optimus switching to revert to the integrated graphics and not use the 310M. You may have to force disable the integrated graphics in your system settings. |
