Need to model a custom fountain - Dark88 - 12-15-2010 I'm looking for someone who knows how to use the model editor. My project Inferno needs a smaller less disturbing fountain. I tried to learn how to use the model editor myself but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. So if anyone is willing to help a fellow guy out I'd appreciate it. I'm not sure how I could repay the favor other than obviously crediting the modeler in the end credits. I'm envisioning something on top of a pedestal with like a basin realistically large enough to be able to fill a bucket with water. RE: Need to model a custom fountain - Sel - 12-15-2010 Just a simple guideline here, if you're requesting anything, you're not going to get convey a very good idea of what you're thinking of with text. Reference pictures are a must. RE: Need to model a custom fountain - DIGI Byte - 12-15-2010 Its doable, but as Sel says, concept art, draw a rough sketch so you can show people what your after, else you wont get what you had in mind RE: Need to model a custom fountain - Dark88 - 12-15-2010 (12-15-2010, 02:35 AM)DIGI Byte Wrote: Its doable, but as Sel says, concept art, draw a rough sketch so you can show people what your after, else you wont get what you had in mind That makes sense. I tried drawing some concept art but my pitiful drawing skills didn't really portray what I was going for. So after a google search I was able to find a better idea than what I was originally contemplating. I'm kind of looking for something like this only instead of the swan in this image, the eagle like the ones in the banners in game and on the hub doors. Additionally, I'm looking for it to be the same both front and back as it will be placed in the middle of the room. As far as scale I'm looking for it to be about as big as the player. I appreciate any help in this endeavor. RE: Need to model a custom fountain - Sel - 12-15-2010 I'm confused, you posted a wall mounted fountain. That would look pretty ridiculous symetrical on both sides, and then freestanding. Are you sure you aren't looking for something like this? http://www.longfieldstone.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/f/i/file_21_5.jpg or RE: Need to model a custom fountain - Dark88 - 12-15-2010 (12-15-2010, 04:35 PM)Sel Wrote: I'm confused, you posted a wall mounted fountain. I should point out that most of my creative ability is in story writing as I usually write screenplays which don't deal very much with the art deco of the setting as that's usually left up to the set designers and decorators. This of course is most likely leading to this issue I have of conveying what I kind of want. Anyway, I would be fine with something similar to the first pic you posted but with the base smaller. The end result will be replacing the fountain in the following pic which is too disturbing for the room it's located in. The size doesn't seem to be a big issue with framerate anymore since I've made the lighting less ridiculous. Spoiler below!
RE: Need to model a custom fountain - Sel - 12-15-2010 I'll consider it if no one else wants to do it, if only because there's a good chance I'll need to make one for myself eventually anyway. I guess no one else is interested. So if your still up to consider doing it, I'd be extremely thankful. If not though its cool, its not that big of a deal. I've got a few projects I still owe some tf2 buddies, but I'll get to it whenever I can then. I'm more than happy to wait especially if it's for tf2 (one of my absolute favorite games of all time). I thank you in advance. My custom story most likely isn't going to be ready for at least a month if not longer anyway. |
