Eerie abandoned bases and camps in Antarctica - Petike - 01-16-2011 http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/12/ghosts-of-antarctica-abandoned-stations.html Yep. ![]() Honestly, I had no idea the cabin built by Scott's expedition is still standing today and in pretty good shape... after exactly 100 years. ![]() Also, South Georgia (though not as south as the Antarctic mainland, since it's closer to the Falklands) has a combination of great panoramas and decaying past settlements (mostly old whaling stations and fisheries) : http://www.sgisland.gs/index.php/(p)Photographs?useskin=pho There's even a freaky wreckage of an old Argentine military helicopter that crashed on the island during the Falklands War in the early 80s.
