Overture Item - Padlock - PenumbraOT - 03-07-2011

Hello,

From the Beginning-to-the-End of the game we had that 'Padlock' in our Inventory, It used to secure our belonging on the fishing boat in the berth's locker but we never had the chance to use it, Or am i missing something?

There's no purpose for the padlock.
At least not that I'm aware of...

Some may think it doesn't have a reason, but in fact it's the most important item in the game. This peculiar item shows that Philip's mind and destiny is similar to a Padlock. It protects many thoughts, many memories. But once you unlock the padlock, you can never lock it again. In Philip's case, once you enter the mine you cannot truly leave it. That, I believe.

That's a nice theory,

We also had the padlock in our invetory at the last scene (Knocked out scene) Which makes your theory much stronger.

Thanks, I always imagined there was more to penumbra than meets the eye.

I thought it was used to lock the door in the mine where the first dog was to prevent it doing this:

I haven't tried it though.

It's used to lock Philip's pocket up to keep the pickaxe, broom, hammer, dynamite, flashlight, painkillers, explosive chemicals, lighter, and everything else he keeps in it, from overflowing.
