Question about graphics cards! - cadiann731 - 03-25-2011 I'm going to get a new graphics card, so I can play Penumbra, but I'd like to play Amnesia too. According to the minimum requirements of both games, they need different graphics cards. With Penumbra play with a GeForce 6 graphics card, or is that an obvious, might-as-well-be-a-big-flashing-red-sign "no"? If it is, is there any way I can play both games on the same computer with the same graphics card? RE: Question about graphics cards! - Yuhaney - 03-25-2011 Just get a better one that is more high end. That way you don't need to think so much about if it will work or not... at least not for a year or so. But in case you are going to buy a cheaper one, you can always download the demos of both games and see for yourself how the game will work with your own graphics card. RE: Question about graphics cards! - cadiann731 - 03-25-2011 I already tried the demos. Right now, I have a GeForce4MX 420. A family friend of ours is going to custom make a computer for me, if we can afford to buy it from him, but I want to be sure Penumbra and Amnesia will play on the same graphics card. Will Penumbra play with a GeForce 6 graphics card? RE: Question about graphics cards! - Bek - 03-26-2011 You'd want to be getting something higher than a geforce 6 anyway. If you're just buying the box you could get a decent rig for ~600 depending on currency, country etc. Here's a general rig: CPU: AMD AM3 Athlon II X4 640 $112 Mobo: MSI 785GM-P45 $55 RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 $45 HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB $57 GPU: 1GB AMD Radeon HD6850 $186 Case&PSU: Thermaltake V4 Black Edition w/ 450W TT Litepower PSU $77 ODD: LiteOn DVD burner $23 (prices in AUD) RE: Question about graphics cards! - gandalf91 - 03-27-2011 If you know how to build PCs, but aren't sure which components to get, I can help. I have no idea how to build PCs. xD; I found a couple PCs at Walmart that have enough space and stuff, and GeForce 6. If I put the links to them up here, would you guys be able to tell me if they could play Penumbra and Amnesia? RE: Question about graphics cards! - jens - 04-10-2011 GeForce 6 is a really old card, it is perhaps 6 generations old so you should definitely look for something more modern. GeForce of new generations are called 2xx,3xx,4xx and 5xx. |
