[Demo] Backhall feature - palistov - 03-28-2011

[attachment=1183]

Hey all, here's a showcase of the map for the Backhall zone in my production, by request. There are no events and no script aside from giving you a lantern and a warm welcome to the Backhall feature.

There's a spotlight of a few minutes of me creating the map, sped up 20x, which brings the total time spent on what you see in the video to about 40 minutes, give or take. Ignore the random stuff happening in the background...I don't think FRAPS and the HPL suite like each other :S

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDIHXdcqGqw

I forgot to attach a readme, so remember:

1 - unzip the files to a destination of your choice
2 - Find the \custom_stories\ directory in your amnesia files
3 - Place the folder you unzipped in the directory in step 2
4 - Open Amnesia and enjoy the feature!

Please take a few minutes and give it a look, I'm sure you'll enjoy the spooky environment! I welcome your comments and constructive criticism, so come back to this thread and share your thoughts!

RE: [Demo] Backhall feature - Kurton - 03-28-2011

I will say, I love what you've done with the outdoor scenery, but indoors feels a little mismatched and uncomfortably spacious. It's not undetailed, it just appears kind of under-planned.

Perhaps downsize most of it? And take away some of the unneeded props, this kablooie'd my framerate down to the single-digits when the long stretch of hall came into view.

RE: [Demo] Backhall feature - palistov - 03-28-2011

It's probably the spam of PS, due to the indeed spacious nature of it. I do think I overdid the size a bit...I just felt the cramped halls in your typical Amnesia environment were getting kind of old. Thanks for your input Smile

The first time i see such a nature in Amnesia!
Best =)

Here's a rework of the original map. Downsized it a lot! Enjoy!

Keep up the feedback Big Grin

Good, really good.
Hall is huge, but some environments are useless.

btw, i have error message when entering big door:

so, i think map lacks Grunt, descending from the second floor stairs...
any way to walk through window and broke it in future, ehh?Tongue

RE: [Demo] Backhall feature - Pandemoneus - 03-29-2011

Yeah, there are no other maps included in this 'feature' release.

RE: [Demo] Backhall feature - palistov - 03-29-2011

Yes I apologize for that! I had meant to make the door uninteractive. The whole point was to showcase the environment. I'm still doing my best to downsize the hall but am getting caught up with the next areas.

@Pandemoneus: YES! Best game! I made a giant tower with skulls crying lava on the sides haha. Anyways...

Thanks for your feedback guys! If you would like to comment on more of my work hit up my youtube channel: username 'mrPalistov' and check out some of the vids! Thanks Big Grin
