I've done some thinking and the reference to the "octo-leg" has got to have something to do with the "spider" folders/files. I'm checking them out but it could be a dead end. I'm also searching for stair-related files.

No, not all of it. I believe the RAR files are DLC. My guess (and your female jump sound supports it) is that I think we'll get to play Daniel's sister or the girl he chased down. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Are you sure these (the Inscriptions of the Nile) weren't hints at the locations of the hieroglyphs / letters that were posted earlier in the thread? Sorry, I'm at work, so I can't confirm any of this myself.
I believe the numbers dictate the correct order somehow. Again, my post.
If someone could answer those questions that were found in the sound file (of the girl speaking -- haven't heard it myself, again, just reading this thread), that would be a good place to start.
