HpL2 Editor Suite keeps crashing - willochill - 04-09-2011
Hi, I downloaded the Hpl Editor Suite for Mac (i have a mac 10.6.3, and i have amnesia on steam). Every time i try to open any of the editors in the editor suite, it says it "quit unexpectedly." i tried restarting my computer and reinstalling in editor suite but it's still not working. please help, need solutions.

Do you have the latest build of the editors? ( check the wiki)
Have you tried updating to Mac os x 10.6.7?
Can you provide any more details on the crash? E.g. Does a crash dialog open up with a more info button and lots of text that you can copy and paste here?

ill try updating to 10.6.7, im pretty sure i have the latest build, i mean i cant find anything newer on it, and i copied and pasted the "Problem Details and System Configuration" text from the crash to the file attached. please respond.

just adding to my last reply, i copied and pasted the text from the "level editor" crash, but the same thing happens for all of the editors.

Hmm.. Let me know what happens after you upgrade to 10.6.7 (the crash log you sent was from 10.6.4 ). Also you can just attach a text file (in TextEdit press Command-Shift-T to make it a text file).
Also try re-downloading the editor installer from the wiki website ( http://wiki.frictionalgames.com/hpl2/tools/start ) and reinstalling the editors.
And try and get a few of them from the level editor so I can see what is causing it.

well, i upgraded to 10.6.7 and it still didn't work, so i tried reinstalling the tools from the wiki and now instead of showing me the "quit unexpectedly" message with crash details, now it just gives me a message simply stating "warning: could not open this editor." im pretty confused.. i attached a screenshot of this message.

Can you go into the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/amnesia the dark descent/ folder? And first see if there is a "LevelEditor" in that folder (there should be).
If there is try and run it directly.

Well, I was able to open up at least the crash details from there, take a look, i attached them.

um. ok
Why is LevelEditor.app inside of the editor folder? All of the applications should be up one level and directly in the "amnesia the dark descent" folder. Did you move the files around perhaps?

yea actually the first time i tried reinstalling the editor suite i put the apps to the trash thinking i could delete those ones, which i thought were bad or crashing, and install better ones, which didn't work either, and when you asked me to open up the apps from the amnesia the dark descent folder i realized the reinstallation didn't install them back for some reason, so i dragged them out of the trash and back into the amnesia folder, i put them in the editor folder cuz thats where i assumed they went. but i now moved them back into the overall amnesia the dark descent folder and tried opening the editors and got the crash details attached in THIS reply. sorry if i made this whole situation any more confusing than it already is by doing that, but can you try to diagnose the problem based on the crash details posted in this reply, i probably confused everything by trying to reinstall it but now im pretty sure it's back to the state it was in when it was first crashing, so can you try to see whats wrong? thx
(srry if this really confuses you lol im not really good at computer tech and handling crashes and everything)
