Steamnesia won’t launch. - El Mariachi - 04-13-2011
10.6.7, 2.2 GHz C2D, GeForce 8600M GT
The (non-Steam) demo worked fine, but trying to launch the full version from Steam bounces the game's Launcher.app in the dock for a while then fails. Then it repeats that until I force-quit Steam. This still happens after removing and reinstalling Steam and Amnesia, including all of ~/Library/Application Support/Steam. The recent Amnesia update didn't help.

Do any other steam applications have this issue? Have you tried re-installing the Steam application itself? And have you rebooted your computer?

Yes, I've completely wiped and reinstalled Steam, and rebooted. Amnesia was the only Mac game I had installed on there, but now I've downloaded Torchlight and it exits with an error window: "Steam must be running to play this game (SteamAPI_Init() failed)." System log says only that it exited with exit code 1.

I have the same exact issue with Amnesia on Mac via Steam. I've tried it on two separate Macs. Is there anything I can try?

El mariachi, so other steam games exhibit the same or similar issues? I would contact valve for support then as it looks like a steam issue..

Different errors. Predictably enough, Valve says it's a Frictional problem. I suspect my credit card company won't split hairs on the chargeback.
