[DEMO] Horror story - Josh707 - 04-16-2011 Hey everyone So i've been working on this map for like a week now (I'm new at this) and I wanted some people to test out my map and give me feedback/tips/suggestions like other people do. I'm a 'scipt kiddie' as some of you call us... but I followed some wiki tutorials and used common sense and this is what I made! The play-time is maybe like 5-10 minutes? Yes it is terribly short. I'm still working on it and if you guys think it's more than decent i'll finish it and actually put the story in (I left a note that just summarizes it.. I have an actual story in mind) Download: here Screenshot:
Spoiler below!
If the link doesn't work tell me and i'll upload it again somewhere else! Thanks for trying it out RE: [DEMO] Horror story - DominusVita - 04-16-2011 Like you said, very short, but strong scripted events, it's the high point. The ambient sound that keeps playing is very unsettling... nice ending. "End of the demo", right. :p It's the first time I've been scared by dropping a lantern. My advice is try to find a more unique level design out of the template you're using. Coding obviously isn't the problem, try to add in some major scares and more puzzle elements with what you've got, and you'll be set. At least that's my opinion, anyways. Thanks yeah, i'm decent at the scripting but I have no idea how to set up puzzles like making a coal burner fill up to open a door for example... I have no idea how to do that :\ thanks for the reply though! Just a quick question... if I add models from the Penumbra conversion pack will you guys be able to see them if you don't have the files but they're in the map? if not do I have to make a models folder or something? RE: [DEMO] Horror story - laser50 - 04-16-2011 Haha Nice map. I liked it! My little brother ain't affraid of this game but he aswell liked it. I liked the end, I shouted FUCK and quit RE: [DEMO] Horror story - Josh707 - 04-16-2011 (04-16-2011, 05:14 PM)laser50 Wrote: Haha Nice map. I liked it! It certainly had a disconcerting feeling to it, ominous and a good story line (somewhat) to it. It's a nice demo, I'd be very happy if you would continue to make it into a larger game of sorts. RE: [DEMO] Horror story - Josh707 - 04-19-2011 I have already extended it quite a bit and I'm planning on uploading a longer/better version of the demo maybe in half a week or so! RE: [DEMO] Horror story - skypeskype - 04-20-2011 Wow. Much more than I would have expected from a 5-min custom story. Great job . Hope you are still working on it. RE: [DEMO] Horror story - Josh707 - 04-21-2011 Yes I am still working on it. I have actually extended* it quite a bit in the past few days. I'm going to upload a longer version either today, or tomorrow at the longest |
