At least not my suggestions.
Scratches and Fatal frame are both FPS games with no weapons.
Silent Hill goes into the category of "You're not sure what's real and what's just your imagination"
Eternal Darkess excels at doing things that fucks with your head.

If we were just talking general horror, I'd suggest resident evil, doom 3, fear etc. After all, they all have "zombies" and darkness, and that's what matters. AMIRITE?

Fatal Frame FPS? I thought it was a TPS while playing :/
Silent Hill is also a TPS where you can use weapons.

I'd say games with Lovecraft theme and FPS/non-weapon games are like Penumbra. Of course, all of you mentioned are good games and should be played and should be suggested anywhere anytime Smile

Fatal frame has a FPS view whenever you use the camera. But sure, if it matters; yes it's TPS for the most part.

As for Silent Hill, I don't know what difference it'd make if it's TPS with weapons or not. It gives a heavy feeling of isolation and powerless'ness, which is why I mentioned it.
You had weapons in the Penumbra games, but does that somehow make them less like Amnesia than Scratches? Huh

RE: Games like Penumbra - Lorkas - 05-30-2011

Are there any games like Penumbra that don't require a high end PC?

RE: Games like Penumbra - Tanshaydar - 05-30-2011

Most of the games mentioned here don't require a high end PC.

RE: Games like Penumbra - Darkchef - 05-31-2011

Yeah most of the stuff here isn't too high end. Plenty of suggestions thanks, I think i'll try out the HL2 mods first.

And I wouldn't really put Resident Evil into horror these days, seems to be more about the action and shooting the crap out of zombies. Which defeats the whole purpose of the earlier games which were good...

I wanna try korsakovia but the damn game crash at loading after the "chinese intro" Angry

EDIT: Ok, apparently the SAVE (were the hell do they come from..) were the problems;

So the game started, but this is not really appealing... ERROR like that, everywhere Undecided

OK, I actually start a new game and it is fantastic!
You can not compare this with Penumbra, but the cloaca remember me to the sewer in Amnesia.
The game has a very dark and dirty atmosphere and a grandious story.
Looks very epic, is not a horror game but it is a role playing game for grown ups (18+).

The Witcher

Amazon

The witcher is way different from Amnesia and Penumbra. It is an RPG like Fable for example and other similar games. I have played both and I can tell you...way different games.

RE: Games like Penumbra - Googolplex - 07-05-2011

Yes I know that and I say it already.
But some environments are similar to Amnesia and the atmosphere is threatening too.
The Witcher is an other kind of game, but there is no other horror game like Penumbra and then I have to go to an other genre with same elements.

And The Witcher has not more common with Fable as with Penumbra.
