She was probably too scared and didn't want the monsters to spot her.
At least she didn't cream all the time like some players of Amnesia...

I don't know why but it annoys me when people do this too... I saw a play through where the guy lit every candle and torch he saw while simultaneously using his lantern all the time, needless to say I face palmed. My friend is like that too and I make fun of him because of it all the time
but he's also to terrified to make it past the entrance hall without someone playing with him, so it's not too surprising he's like that.
