I'm not scared of the ocean itself.

Im scared of the sharks, murderous fish, whales and shit all hiding in it.

Try some more images of this one and watch some YT videos. Heteroscodra maculata is a jump master Big Grin
Get used to the "spiderity" and your phobia will pass away, as did mine.

Get used to the "spiderity"?
*going to watch spiderman movies again* hahaha Tongue

Oh,and i don't think i define this fear of spiders as "phobia".
even i can say my fear of spiders isn't that great, but still...,i have some fear of them Smile

No mention of flowers or pathogens?

RE: Pho's Phobias - skypeskype - 08-20-2011

The only things that can realy really scare me are spiders, deep water (a little less now becasue I learned how to swim on my back !! Big Grin) and dentists.

RE: Pho's Phobias - Hermoor - 08-20-2011

I don't really fear deformity, but it makes me feel sick and disgusted. In deformity I mean people who got melted faces or tumors etc. Not really scary but discouraging, of course one fears death for a good reason Wink

EDIT:
Quote:Hmm..I guess i'm afraid of spiders (well, actually a LOT! XD,if i see one at my room,i can't sleep all night, because i still think there might be more, and it takes a lot of hours until i calm down
Every year a person swollows in average 5 spiders while they are asleep. The spiders seek warmth, and naturally during the nights, our mouths. Ever woken up with a bad taste in your mouth Wink

Fear of any water, not even deep water. Anything big enough to wade or swim in, gets me shivering in horror. I could barely finish Penumbra Requiem because of that one simple water map.

Flowers are outrageously hard to model realistically, and pathogens are... well, invisible. Also it's unlikely that you'll find flowers in the basement of a castle.

Actually, you know what? I'm putting flowers in somewhere. And you won't know where until you find them... or they find you.

This is actually an urban legend and not true. Spiders are intelligent enough not to accidentally (or intentionally) become ingested by sleeping animals, including humans. Plus, warmth over a certain temperature (like cold under a certain temperature) will kill them, as they are conformers (i.e. ectothermic or cold-blooded... insert evil laugh here). See this image for example (warning, there is a spider in this image):
Spoiler below!

As you can see, the cold-blooded spider is darker than the warm-blooded (regulator or endothermic) human hand.
The bad taste you wake up with is usually the "leavings" of whatever microorganisms lived in your mouth the night before (i.e. bacteria poo, hearkening back to the fear of pathogens mentioned before) and is why the taste is largely dependent upon what you last ate or drank before bed (and whether you brushed your teeth or not).

On a separate note: adding spiders to the first Prologue map as well, since they seem to be a big hit (and I can't add heights or water, since the map is effectively done). I was looking for a means of "persuading" the player to go somewhere, and spiders sound like the ideal solution.

You have been warned.

Thanks everyone for your votes! Harvest is now properly directed, and I even have a special present for those arachnophobes and aquaphobes among you (if you are unlucky, that is). See here for details.

RE: Pho's Phobias - Hunter of Shadows - 08-26-2011

Where is 'fear of mr. Face'

EDIT: I guess he would full under fear of dead things, or fear of deformities huh?
