I have been trying to use the battery on the generator where the open panel is, but it says "that will do no good." Where am I supposed to put the darn battery?

No luck so far. Still trying. I'm so lame at these RPG games. I don't want to lose interest in the game, but it's getting close.

I have tried several times to kill the dog with pickaxe and hammer . . . . even the jerky trick . . . no luck, just keep getting killed. Keep in mind .. . . I'm really new to the whole RPG thing too, ...

I believe so. It's in the same room where you picked up the hammer. Then I took the hammer and smashed the boards to a tunnel. I just can't push the metal shelf over to get to the tunnel.
