There should be a fix for this in the next patch, but you will have to load a save from before catherine started talking about the scanner for it to take effect.
For now you SHOULD be able to continue... |

As far as I know, the only reason to fix that is to turn off the sound in the Windows control panel. I believe it's the sound called Default Beep. |

It's a known bug. I believe it's already fixed in the latest Steam patch. Did you buy the game on GOG? If so you'll get the patch soon as well. |
