If you meet the first pig run back to the open cage near the stair where you come from. If the pig follows you it makes a 360° and stop to follow you.

My favorite part was the Elevator while you hear a song and see the machine. It was like the long ladder in MGS3^^

On the other side of the room you should be able to jump on the woodpile. Then jump on the edge and you can go to this little machine. So you don't need to activate the lever.
