I have windows vista. Dont think the hpl helps actually in this case.

It doesnt output any error at all. If you want i can upload the story up here so you can have a look at the 2nd map.

Also I tried putting boxlights in and it still didn't reveal any of the map.

Your custom_story_settings.cfg is missing a StartPos, and so i start off like this on the first map:

As for your second map, everything is pitch black for me too. Night vision doesn't work, nor does the lantern provide any light. This is due to the global fog settings of the map. Go to Edit > Level settings and click on the Fog tab. Increase the Falloff Exp. to allow for light. Having it at 0 is what is making it impossible to see.

I couldn't move since the game stuck me in the wall (as you can see in the image).

Hmm, thats wierd. Im pretty sure i scripted the player to be facing forward towards the door.
