To answer your question, I never listen to rap ever, I hate it. Heck add hip-hop and pop into my hate list too. My reason for hating it: really it is not my taste, but I hear it constantly everywhere and especially in school, everybody either talks about it or sings it. The only rap I do listen to is of parodies and the other funny stuff.
My problem with rap is the fact that there is rarely any progression on the songs. Listen to the first minute and you've heard the whole song.
I have to concentrate to actually keep up with rap lyrics and its hard to do that for prolonged amount of time, it gets all muffled into repetitive background noise.
Do you people who listen to a lot of rap feel like the lyrics are really important for the experience? Can you listen to rap for longer periods of time? I'm really interested...

If you hear about it constantly, its most likely mainstream. Which is simple, repetitive and easily hatable, (I think so because its mostly made for people who don't listen to music enough for their taste to develop fast).

Those are pretty damn huge genres (dj isnt really a genre), I bet you have hell of a narrow taste in music. There is usually something at least mildly interesting happening in the pop music front too.

Sounds extremely scary, I don't want to hear that.
Kanye West - POWER (nope i did not chose Ni**as in Paris because its waaaaaay toooo mainstream)
KANO - E.T Ft. Wiley , Wretch 32 , Scorcher
T.I. - Here Ye , Hear Ye Ft. Sk8brd (Pharrell Williams)
Those are my fav songs
1. Has great flow and beat and is his best song (hasn't done many)
2. I know overused in video gaming trailers , but has good lyrics for 21st century
3. just PURE AMAZING UK stuff
4. Sickest beat for T.I. and Pharrell actually knows to rap this time.
