RE: Absolute Wuss

I decided to make an account just to post a reply to the actual OP.

I am most definitely a wuss too.
I decided to play the game because I had a lot of fun laughing at reaction compilation videos and figured I would have to 'test' myself.

I played for about thirty minutes, probably managed to make someone on Ventrillo go deaf because I was screaming and now decided I'm better off playing the game with someone next to me ready to hit the pause button whenever I run away from the computer.

There's probably no way to be 'less scared' with age definitely put aside. There's just 'back-up' options such as someone sitting next to you or playing happy music in the background. Personally I'm just glad I get scared - I'd be disappointed if I didn't. Smile

I disagree. While I would say my father is laughably inept at parenting in some ways I wouldn't consider exposing me to art one of the bad aspects. My dad was studying computer engineering in California when I was a child so he had a fairly high end machine and was also a big PC gamer. Playing games like Grim Fandango (which is now my all-time favorite game), Curse of Monkey Island, Unreal Tournament '99 and Half-Life really kindled my interest in PC gaming and I have been gaming ever since (on various consoles and now PC only again). Likewise with the films he watched: he didn't patronize me and so let me watch what he wanted to watch (within reason of course) which got me so interested in film as well. Thanks to getting such an unbiased view of those two media when I was young now I am very passionate about them both. If I had just grown up only kids movies and that kind of crap I probably would have been one of the majority that doesn't really care about art at all.

In hindsight I noticed I phrased my opinion wrong at the place you quoted and have changed that, good off you to pick up on that.
As for parenting and when it comes to what/who is responsibe for violence amongst younger, it all varies from case to case. When you are a child, nobody in the world knows you better than your parents. They can let you see things in movies and games because they are there with you and can explain what it is that is happening. What I'm talking about when it comes to bad parenting is when parents just leaves their children by the tv, exposed to all the things that a child can't wrap their mind around and therefore shouldn't see. There can be many reasons as to why the parent leave the child, many of those who crossed the law comes from a troubled past. You should not use games and tv as a babysitter, the parent must be with their child. Of course they don't have to sit next to their child everytime the tv is on or the computer is buzzing, they just have to be there to make sure that their child knows what it is seeing and why it is wrong.

I'm not reading the child abuse laws at this time, but my father actually starved me every week and locked me and my brother in our room every weekend. He was a stay at home dad while my mother works. I say not technically because I don't think he really abused me. I don't want to share my life story though, I'm past it.

Name me ten children who were turned into psychotic mass murderers who weren't already mentally disturbed. I'm waiting.
A: "There's no use arguing with you." *walks away.*
B: "I'm right until proven otherwise. I'm waiting." *waits.*
A: *isn't around to hear what B said, so doesn't reply.*
B: *is therefore right.*

It's like proving the bibles real by quoting a book about the bible.

So you don't believe in the Bible, and you also don't believe in science. ... Good for you.

I also would like to say to those who claim that video game violence making people more desensitized "is highly debatable":
It's not.
It's a proven fact. There is no reason to doubt the findings.

So present those findings dude. This is not complicated. If it is so universally acknowledged and somehow everybody else in this thread is living under a rock (not impossible, I don't advocate argumentum ad populum) then post a link so that we may evaluate what is presented and decide whether it is true or not. There is no such thing as credibility; just because you can prove you know something doesn't mean you do. Prestigious doctors can be full of shit just like the rest of us.

I already presented the findings, just a few posts back. Do you want the ISBN numbers? These papers might not be retrievable on the internet, but Wikipedia can vouche for their accuracy.
...so yes, people are living under a rock, and eat sticks.
I don't care if you don't believe in science. I'm just not debating with people who don't.

I see. I knew you'd slip up sooner or later. Give it up, Abraham Lincoln! I see through your disguise. Don't deny it - there's no such thing as credibility, and even if you think you can prove otherwise, you don't know anything. I'm the only one not full of shit around here, and I know you, Abraham Lincoln. It was you and your dastardly scemes that exiled us all to the moon and then erased our memories, just so that you could have all of Spain for yourself. Don't deny it! There is no such thing as credibility or proof or true knowledge.

I'm done. This is beyond pointless. Either get off your high horse and debate in an orderly fashion or just admit defeat. Simply saying "I'm right" doesn't mean you are. Don't say: "This book tells you how I am right", you tell me how you are right. Is it universally acceptable that violence has a major impact on all youths? No, because I was a youth exposed to violence and I have no relevant mental illnesses. Either that means I (and basically everybody who is not insane) defy your precious science that must be true, or you are full of shit.
