Work in progress Need advice on making custom story.

So I recently started to make my own custom story and I need some advices with that.

Story that I'm making:
Idea is that player wakes up in his room at hotel. He doesn't remember anything and there's no one else in the hotel. Goal is that he need to get out from the hotel. Also he is at the top floor.

I would really appreciate that if you could give me some ideas about that how to continue my story and what there should be in the map.

I have couple simple questions to those who have been doing custom stories before:

- Where to start learning scripting if I don't have any earlier experience?
- What are the common mistakes that people do in their maps?

Protip: Don't use the 'doesn't-remember-anything-amnesia' story. It's overused and seen way to many times before.

I know it's really overused but it's also easy... Well my story isn't exactly like that because he doesn't remember first anything but he will find memories that tells what is happened. It's hard to come up with totally new idea Undecided

You could use this:

He wakes up to what he thinks is a normal day. However, stuff has changed since when he went to bed, and he must get out before something terrible happens.

and then just build on from there..

Well this could be used too but my problem is that what is going to happen next? Huh

It could be some kind of cult, and guests are being sacrificed etc.

just write down anything on your mind and build a story from it Smile
