How to beat the spiders.

I am at the part right after the worm chases you and the walkthrough says to just kill the spiders and destroy their eggs, my questions are:1)How can I accomplish it 2)Does destroying the eggs really do anything 3)Can I just type in Archon and be invincible?

Use the flashlight. It scares spiders away...
