Donkey Kong Country 3
So I was feeling nostalgic (thanks to that other thread) and I remembered my SNES is currently in a far away place, so I downloaded an emulator to play my favourite games. I decided to play the third donkey kong country because I've never tried it before and I adored 1 and 2. So far it has been kind of a let down because the levels don't seem as interesting or well designed, the music isn't as good, and I find the elephant thing that looks like dumbo to be stupid and useless. It seems like they decided the third game should stylistically fit somewhere between the first and second games; through bringing back the 'big kong' character to play, and going back to the level themes in the first one. Maybe I am being too hard on this game because of the love I had for the first two, but this one doesn't seem like it's quite on the same level as those two. Although to be far, I've only played a few hours.
What do you guys think?

Personally, yes. The second one is my favorite, but 3 is up there as well. You should check out the 4th one too, the one for wii. It's actually REALLY good and really challenging.

Oh, that's cool. I didn't know there was one for Wii. Too bad I don't have one, I just looked at the trailer and it seems pretty cool. I can't imagine it beating 2 for best one though.

No game can live up to 10 years of hopes, and dreams of fans. In a sense Donkey Kong fans probably felt as thought DKC3 did not live up to the previous games (like DNF).

DNF + Syndrome = DNF Syndrome Well actually the reason that Duke Nukem' Forever sucked wasn't because the over-hype. The game sucked cause it sucked, no other reason then that. It was full of stupid jump-puzzles and lame filler, the combat was garbage, and even the texturing was blasphemy! (Texturing? You know, the thing we always get angry at games for focusing on more then all else.) I think one of the main focuses of this year is finding out how 13 years could bring that abomination to the table. Even if the game wasn't part of a beloved series, it wouldn't be any better received. The only thing that would change would be the lack of mass-suicides.

I thought someone told me that DNF's developers actually lost funding somewhere in the middle and that did not help them I bet.

DNF + Syndrome = DNF Syndrome Oh ok. Well I don't think DKC3 is as bad as that, it just doesn't like up to the expectations. Mine at least.

RE: Donkey Kong Country 3
I never played the 2nd or 3rd, only the original Donkey Kong Country, and it was amazing. I just watched a little bit of gameplay, and I remember it all so fondly. I don't think I ever beat the game, though...
