To add to what i said, I think the HPL is AMAZING. Probably one of the most advanced independently developed engines, i especially love the CG shaders, stencil shadows that OWN, and cross platform support without compromising quality.

Dragonmaster, if you have played Penumbra or Energetic, you have aleady seen HPL engine. Wink

I don't care myself, the make good games, that's what I really like, not the engine the game uses.

One indi engine I seem worth being a fan of is Esenthel. It's more advanced than HPL. And it's not even done yet.

The HPL engine is great for the number of people involved in the creation of it, and the production cost.
But compared to top-line game engines, it isn't very good.

Please -REP me.
Honestly, please do. I want to see how low I can go!!
Ignore that error message too. Just ignore it and keep going to give me -rep.

Sorry to make you dissapointed, but HPL2 will have softshadowing. And soft shadowing are better than stencil. Not just the looks but it has some features that stencil don't have. I personally think soft shadowing is better than stencil, though stencil is more "dramatic" than soft in some way. Smile
