Is It possible to copy/paste something from a map to another?

Hye,

I'd like to know if it is possible to copy a whole part of a map (a room for example) and paste it in an other map. I've tried but without success.

thanks a lot and sorry for my french.Smile

No, you can't. You can copy the map file however.

I don't recommend to copy someones map. It is more fun to make your own map and it also gives a better experience for the player.

Current projects:

The Dark Prison 85 % (Stopped working on this one)

Unnamed Project 7 %

You can by exporting it and then you import it to your map

Don't worry, it's just that I want to re-use some parts of other levels from my custom story for the player to be lost Big Grin

You can just edit the map and save it as a new file.

Still hasn't gotten over the loss of wubwub...

No, do what NoAuthor said. You select all the objects you want to export, then go to File>Export Selection. Put the .expobj anywhere you can remember it. Then go into the new map and go to File>Import Objects and find the .expobj. Position and poof, done.

Like TheNoAuthor12 said, you need export (File>Export Selection) the selected object(s) and open up the other map and do (File>Import Objects). (Note: You can't Export Compound Objects)
  1. Start selecting each piece individually. And every now and then bind it into a Compound Object incase you lose selection and can't undo back to the selection.
  2. Once you think your done, make it all into a Compound Object and move it around. Find any stragglers you missed and include them in the Compound Object.
  3. Once that is done, remove the Compound Object so it's all individual white outlined pieces and do "File>Export Selection". Personally I would put it into a folder in your CS directory like "exported".
  4. Go into the other map and "File>Import Objects" and you it will be imported into your map. (Note: The area it spawns I think will be relevant to where you Exported it from the other map. So don't be alarmed if you can't find it at first. Look around and you will spot it.)

Edit: Dang it statyk, you posted when I was just starting on mine! Tongue
