Just saw the official site update. Sounds as though the kids in the trailer might be the ghosts of the twins mentioned in the poem. It talks about calling their spirits, using "candlelight" and "tables tipped". I know that "table tipping" is a form of paranormal communication, so I guess the parents (Mandus?) were trying to at least contact them, if not revive them somehow.
Welcome!
Nice thoughts, especially the "tables tipped" thing, didn't catch that. That's about what I'm thinking too, whether or not the phantasms in the trailer (if we can assume they are such) are actually real and a result of Oswald's meddling in the occult or simply figments of his imagination (maybe tied into sanity?) seems impossible to guess at right now.
Dan did confirm in an interview that there would be other people (codename "civilians" as he put it) in the game, but the humanoids in the trailer don't seem to act like human beings. They way they walk past the hallway(s) is VERY reminiscent of J-horror esque phantoms: popping up and disappearing again. That's why I'm holding to the idea that they are ghosts of some sort.
Having the children linked to sanity would be really cool. To ACTUALLY hallucinate humanoids would be terrifying. Although, seeing as they are animated and everything, they'd have to appear at only set locations, and a lack of sanity can happen anywhere (I'm guessing).
And yeah, the way they appear in the trailer is very sinister. Reminds me of how Alma would appear in F.E.A.R. Really creepy. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing in horror media, though. I love subtlety; phantoms simply strolling across doorways and such.
If that's true, not only do we have pig monsters to worry about, but ghosts and/or reanimated children too.
FEAR is exactly what I was thinking of when I saw the humanoids in the trailer. It would be awesome if aamfp had both the traditional horror of a corporeal enemy from TDD and the Japanese style horror seen in FEAR. I don't think I've ever seen a game get them both right.

Now that would make a lot of sense... I was racking my brain trying to thing what a haunted house sorta building would be doing in that picture... but an orphanage ties it in with the first letter.

I wonder if the premise of this game will still be that people are being tortured to extrat vitae.

First from pigs... after from horses... finally from humans?

I don't know in which order, I know that they already do it from humans in TDD and I think they tried pigs aswell.. or was it dogs. Anyway, I'm just guessing pigs is another word for men in AMFP.

That all rather depends on what you consider to be a pig...

That's a direct quote from one of the teasers right?

The only reason vitae was extracted in TDD was because Alexander personally needed it for the ritual so he could return to his home world.

Order of the Black Eagle and Alexander did have a quite fruitful "relationship" I would guess. Having even a lot crates scattered around rooms from the order. I doubt they kept obviously immortal like human being around and not expect him to share some of the information about know-how and stuff like that. Now especially when Alexander is no longer around protecting his secrets from the order, that castle holds a quite bit of information they could take advantage of.

Isn't everybody except the grunt, the brute and the shadow dead?
I do like the progress on the site means "something is emerging" whether that is the release or a tip on what to expect both are interesting.
