For Static Objects, click the Lego icon.
For Entities, click the Ghost icon below the Lego one.

If this isn't what you meant, you have to be a bit clearer.

Ctrl+F, type in the name of what you want to find, you'll get a list of all objects with that name within it (For instance if you type Note you'll get Note_1, Note_2, etc.) then you can select the right one from the list and press F to automatically move the camera to it.

Edit: I assumed you mean items you'd already placed, if you mean just a list of every object in the game, sorry there's no search for those.

He means filtering objects before placing them down. And, no, there's no such filter.

So, if you're just looking for a name, you can open the folder manually and search with the search function on your computer. If you want a picture, you kinda want to scroll all the way through it.

You can use the arrowkeys to go up and down, or just scroll the mouse wheel
