1. NV is better, but I thinbk you should play 3 first, that way you'll get the most out of it. 1 and 2 are brilliant as well.

IMO you should play them in this order: 3->1->2->NV. EDIT: Get all NV DLC but for 3 you should only get Broken Steel, Point Lookout and The Pitt.

Maybe I will give it a try tomorrow.

This makes me realize how sub-consciously I'm trusting FG's word of god recommendations, because just from reading that one post has made my interest in Outlast go way up.
