Steam seams to indicate that the game will unlock in 1 day and 2 hours as far as I can tell that is 08:00am GMT+1 just as in the shelf.
This would mean that it doesn't matter if you bought it on steam or the Frictional games store, it will unlock at the same time regardless.

That sounds like BS.. 
Obviously I'm not going to link to anything but it started popping up on trackers a few hours ago.
edit: also I wasn't trying to imply steam leaked it, I was just saying steam is a jerk for making me think I could play it early.
