It allows you to do a whole lot more, but also forces you to do a whole lot more. You can't just copy/paste Amnesia into SOMA without tinkering around a lot.
Sure, Amnesia is very restrictive, but its simple syntax is what drew so many to it. Plus, working with restrictions is kinda fun imo.
Makes things more impressive when you can do something unexpected 
Also I hope you guys know what's in those brownies in case you start laughing hysterically at an empty wall or gripping on to the floor as to not fall off the Earth.
