Philip's Journey (New video series) - Penumbra Overture

Hey everyone,

I am new here and just started on the forum, and I'm wanting to start posting a new video series/walkthroughs of Penumbra. I know what your thinkin, "Great another walkthrough"...however this one is sighlty differenet. Everything is done in narration, however its not your everyday normal narration....I speak like I'm apart of the Penumbra universe. For example, I speak as I'm Phillip in the game....therefore I will never talk like this, "Yeah my computer was crashing one day and blah blah blah". Instead like this "Holy crap! I can't see anything, what the ! was that!" or "What was my dad into, what kinda work was he into" or "Calm down Philip".

The idea of this was brought to me by a guy that does a couple of videos for Fallout 3, and you see Fallout 3 has been around for awhile and he got a lot views for a older game. I hoping, but have my fingers cross (Because this one is a very old game) that I will get some viewership. But the number of viewership does not concern me anymore, but whether to do videos of what ever the hack I want and not care about the out come.

But posting it here, will be for the reason to give it better support...but as a gamer that shares the same passion for this game, please comment here and on the video it self. Your thoughts and comments encourge me to continue on with them.

Enjoy, here are the videos. Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=...D6BBC7905A

PS. Try to annoy the fact that I have a American accent. Tongue

Kinda but not really, we are not speaking from his mind but out loud. A lot like this guy I'm talking about, that makes Fallout 3 videos. And since that's a RPG he will say out loud what his responds is to another computer AI. Since this game has a lot subtitles and Phillip does talk to himself a lot in the first place, therefore I'm trying to do the samething here. Its like when your talking to your self out loud, which believe it or not I do a lot in real life lol. I any try to read Philip's subtitles out loud, which sometimes I'm not quick enough to read them completely, so I go along with it.

I like not to think about in a Philip's Mind series but more of, what if Phillip could talk out loud in an American accent. Tongue But whatever, it depends on how you look at it.

Nice video. But i think that you should consider the following before continuing the series. First off, I am a professional improvisational actor (mostly comedy) and solo acts are horribly difficult when you are first starting out because you have noone/nothing to work off. When working with people they will speak, giving you time to think of a line. This video is a combination of the two, since you can work off the game, but that is not much to work off. That said, I think that you should go through an area and think of what you want to say, or even write it down, before you record with commentary. Perhaps even record just gameplay and then watch the video through a few times to get an idea of what you should say. The video is good, but I think that it could be so mich better...

Ah, to be honest I don't care much....Its my youtube I'll just have fun doing it. Where most people care so much about subscribers and such, I don't....theres a reason its called youtube not yourtube.

Good points though, but I don't have time to make a professional video. Most of my week is filled with stuff that matters much more then making movies, I get about a little time during the year to make a video with a lot of focus in it. The guy that makes videos for Fallout 3 is very funny and good but any with him, he has "no plans" or "per-lines" for his videos also, but I'm not trying to be him because I'm not him....neither I am Philip too or trying to come across as him. I will try to acted like I am Philip but probably most likely sound like myself or be myself.

I can put a lot focus in a video, and I have in the past with other games....but the time limit is a problem for videos like that where for some people it isn't. My life is to busy for a overly focus made video.
