RE: Need feedback on outdoor level
Yeah I'm considering that but I want it to seem like it's dawn. I'll definitely try to fiddle with the lighting, but yeah it has lots of work in terms of atmosphere. Thanks for checking it out guys

Hmm.. I would say a tad more lighting. I'm guessing you are adding more detail later on, as this is more of an outline of the map. You have some variety going there. Its just too bad that most amnesia mapmakers are limited to the models available. I like it though, you use the toolset better than I do.

Yeah I'm actually hoping to dig out that tree model I saw somewhere in the Showcase forum. Perhaps try my hand at creating my own. I've tried to create a tree stump model but I'm still fairly new at modelling so. And yeah lighting will change; I plan on adding some hanging lantern posts along the way. As far as the pathing goes it's not entirely obvious where to go and I don't want the player to try jumping over rocks (added blockboxes haha).

Spotlights stop being useful past radii of about 15. The shadows become choppy and of horrible quality, and strange black-shade boxes appear in-game. I saw a post a while back in which the original poster referred to them as "artifacts". Whatever they are, they are quite distracting haha.

Just don't enable Shadowcasting on the main light. Then place smaller, much closer spotlights wherever shadows are needed.

Still has the artifacts though. And yeah I'll likely just place multiple spotlights to cast tree shadows where the player can actually see them.

RE: Need feedback on outdoor level
This entire area is lit up by one 90 radius, 165 degree FOV spotlight. There are no artifacts.

Hmmm not sure what causes them for me then. Probably some of the video game settings. I'll look into it. By the way that screenie is very nice Painterly, if I might say
