I have attached the log to this post. When I open the level editor, a black window with the title "Unnamed Map - HPL Level Editor" appears. When I click on the window, the BlackBox appears. What other extra details should I provide?

As I have said before, I'm running in windows 7. Should I try another operating system?
If anyone has the slightest idea, let me know.

I'm going to suggest one thing, beside this i'm clueless: Did you try forcing Windows XP (SP2) compatibility on it? I've had games crash on me when i click on them and doing this helped.

I have already tried this before. No success. I did however discover something new: before crashing, the level editor pops up a window that states that a few folders are missing ("/maps" and others). I put the editor directly in the "redist" folder. Should it be placed somewhere else?

RE: Level Editor Crash

Ok, one final question: is anyone currently running the level editor on Windows 7? If not, I guess I'll have to switch to XP...

I'm running it on Windows 7 64-bit (and Ubuntu 64-bit).

RE: Level Editor Crash

Problem solved with the help of Your Computer and plutomaniac. All I had to do was set the "preferred graphics card" as Nvidia, because the level editor would choose the integrated graphics card as default.
