In the season three finale when Twilight becomes an alicorn - why did they make her one? I mean it felt somewhat rushed. I would think that they would make her an alicorn to end the show entirely, but from what I've read season four is already on its way. Can someone help me understand this?

They did that because hasbro wanted to make more money by selling more toys.

I understand that, but when season 4 comes out I don't see how they are going to work Twilight into it. I mean her being a princess now seems out of place. Do you think that it will work out with her being an alicorn and the others not?

I think they'll have no problem working her into it. I assume that she will still be living in Ponyville but will now be helping Celestia with more things. She will also have more lessons to learn, such as Rainbow Dash teaching her how to fly, and learning to cope with her new form. I also suspect there will be an episode about her friends feeling alienated because of her sudden success, with them feeling like they're not important enough for her now.
