DOOM 64 can be had as a Wad for DOOM II on pc as well now, Brutal Doom wad is also worth a look for gore fans.

Yeah, I was thinking about it, but a friend got me the Doom 3 pack (Criso :3), so for now, I'll enjoy that. But I'll have to wait another time for the original Dooms. I WOULD like to play them sometime, but I never bother to get around to it... derp.

Says to me you like old shooters... Nothing wrong with that. I'm not a big fan of 2D games... Doom 3 is the closest I can get to a 2D game.

I put Pitfall in my list because it's a silly game.

None of you guys like the LucasArts adventure games? Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island series, Sam & Max (although I haven't played it that much) and so on (AKA some of the best music, best writing and best stories in gaming).

Anyway, I'm not much of a pessimist so I don't propagate the idea that we are living in the dark ages of gaming (at least not yet). There are plenty of great games being developed at the moment and anybody that thinks that the 90s and early 00s consisted only of Half-Lives, Thieves and Deus Exes needs to look up the term "collective memory". I assure you the standards were just as low then as they are now and the old classics everybody loves are just diamonds in the rough that have aged well.

I think you are confusing doom3 with doom 1 & 2. Doom 3 looks something like this:

- Star Wars: Shadows of the empire
- Sacrifice
- MDK 1
- Black and White
- Doom1 & 2
- Duke nukem 3D
- Quake 1 & 2
- Never Winter Nights
- Diablo 1 & 2
- Heroes of might and magic 3
- Hexen 1
- Super Smash Bros
- Half-life 1 + various expansions
- Half-life 2
- Gex enter the gecko

Are the ones I can think of, off the top of my head.

As much as I appreciate Neverwinter Nights' faithfulness to the pen-and-paper D&D game mechanics and the great story/music/gameplay/everything, I hate the interface. It feels more like using an editor, with the dialogue being nothing more than a pop-up (probably the worst dialogue system in an RPG) and the camera system oddly distanced from the gameplay most of the time. It just rubs me the wrong way and I wish it had a more traditional third person or semi-isometric camera system and a more involving dialogue scheme.

Also, and this is much more minor, I don't really feel the player needs to know what the game is doing when it's loading. All these modules when you go to different areas, it really brings you out of the game in my opinion. Anyway, NWN is one of the more moddable games out there so most of my complaints are fixable, but I prefer to experience stuff the way it was intended, absolutely unadultered, before I install mods.
