Ooooh you just need to put an alpha channel on it. Go into Gimp/Photoshop and add an alpha channel, then erase everything in the image you don't want showing up (so everything but the letters). Then open your .mat file in the material editor and check off the "alpha" box, then just select that image. Also swap out the original image that you chose for the "diffuse" box with the updated version.
