I'm not really saying he's a relative. i think he is basically saying that relatives can not be, that the father is the either the dark figure at the end or the one who knocks you down. it's possible from what I posted up there. maybe Red is trying to help. after all, he says at the end, the key stays with him, he doesn't want Philip to have it.
