What about Reds speeking skills ? He was traped in the cave for 30 years. He was alone all the time ( he writed on wall in his room "nobody to speek to" ) so imho even if he was reading all this books all the time, it was impossible to him to speak so fluent. Its not normal. Hell, i think he was some kind of ghost, tortured soul, and he could not rest, until some one set him free.
