...but yeah, I saw they made Tetris in Amnesia recently, so I know HPL2 has got more to offer with the right talent behind it.
First of all, with text alone, a good writer can work wonders.
Second of all, the scripting is basically in C++ with markup support. Adding money, hunger, thirst, psychological states, is no problem, as long as you've got vars.
Third of all, it has deliberate modelling support, and modellers on the forums too.
Fourth of all, A Machine For Pigs will add new official models, and probably new scripts as well.
HPL2 might not have the latest in shaders, but I've yet to see an author reach the limit of perfected environments that didn't end too soon. Sure, there are bad mappers, and there are players who has played stories until all the official models have been burned into their retinas, but that's not the same as reaching the limitations of the engine.
