Anyone remember the old TV show "Courage the Cowardly Dog"?

kids shows had some deeper or more mature ideas thrown in to appeal to a
wider demographic, not just kids; that's why those shows were so
popular and lasted so long.

That may be, but Courage
is one of the most prominent series in that regard. ...but it's hard to
tell, as I haven't grown up with Cartoon Network.

I would argue Ren and Stimpy is more prominent. Some of that stuff isn't even safe for adults (but still great).

everyone else instantly takes it to heart and has to start their own
little war with him.

Which was honestly not intended. If somebody says something I don't agree with then I comment on it. Maybe you just detected some hostility that wasn't present; I just wanted to raise a point.

Seems like more than one did. Maybe it's my way of speaking, I don't know, I honestly didn't want to start a flamewar. Still, I think saying "How can you assume this?" is just asking for some sort of reply.
