The lighting in the first screen shot looks pretty good, better than a lot of finished "high-quality" mods I've seen. The second screen shot could use some work; the billboards seem too bright and too short (try adjusting the length+alpha levels). Also, the entire room seems too blue for just having that one window.

As for detail, use decals, ornaments and furniture to fill in the gaps. the sky's the limit with that sort of thing, so it should be simple.
