And Andy, I still play Half life and not out of nostalgia - some will, but not me. To me, the game represented perfection in game design, with fantastic level design and the gameplay is still extremely fun. And don't say that "people only like it cause of nostalgia" That's a bullshit excuse. It does apply sometimes(very rarely), but if I said that the only reason people enjoy Amnesia fourteen years after release is nostalgia, then you'd call me a retard while everyone who disliked the game would agree with me. But that's not true really, - it's an argument that's used because people know that the people already with their opinion will agree with it, and that the people who don't can't argue against it, because you can just constantly spout it out and that our minds are clouded until we agree with you out of frustration.

tl;dr - There's no way of accurately comparing the quality of games from a previous generation to the ones we have now. Trying to convince someone from a later generation is utterly pointless.

I would also appreciate it if you read my post all the way through before saying my opinion is a "bullshit excuse", or stop taking everything so literally when there are obvious exceptions, just like anything else. You are a true master of semantics.

Also, in the 14 years after Amnesia's release, I am certain improvements would be made and the ideas fine-tuned to make something even better than the original. In my eyes, have the next generation pulling the nostalgia card in such a scenario is perfectly justifiable.
