RE: How to rep people!

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:1. This is a game/forum in Sweden, right? Or at least in the general area? Not all may speak or even write good English.
Scandinavia in general actually have pretty high standards when it comes to the English language. I won't say for sure, but I believe that in Sweden, just as here in Norway(the neighbouring country), they start learning English pretty early, and it's something everyone does - not an optional class, as in so many other countries. Also, this does not excuse people from using improper punctuation and capital letters, or not using them at all.

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:2. Is writing a pointless rep really a good idea. One thing that comes to mind, "don't bite the hand that feeds you." People will think differently of you.
What do you consider a "pointless rep"?

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:3. Or sort of 2b. People that get on other peoples cases doesn't help anyone. It doesn't help you on thinking positive about the attacker, and the attacker doesn't seem to care about the attackee.
If person A accuses or attacks person b, person b may easily lose respect from a; and that person b will not think too greatly about person a.
If one person does something wrong, is it then equally wrong to try to straighten him/her out? I'm not talking about flaming the person, I'm talking about actually coming with good arguments against what the person did wrong. If the person IS wrong, then there shouldn't be any problem coming up with good arguments against that person's wrongful actions, either, and then that person will either be mature enough to see his/her fault, or that person will start flaming, in which case a moderator should step in.

If you're afraid that people won't like what you say, then don't say it. However, if all thought that, and a person actually did something wrong, then no one would tell him what'd be right, and he'd/she'd just continue doing such things.

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:4. Just be careful before you bark.
True. A better phrase would probably be "think before you act." Saying and doing things without thinking through it before hand should never be done, and people not doing so has been the cause of too many arguments, and worse.

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:5. To me, the only time a negative rep is needed, is if the person really only spams (typically a NEW person), and if the person tries to screw things up, like giving others negative reps, may reply but not really in the good way, may just give off various mixed up words, say some quotes from movies and shows, and never actually talking about what the other people say.
They're the ones that should get a negative rep.
Think E-bay. Do people give others a negative star (or whatever they do there; been some time), because they always seem to forget the difference between there and their?
I don't see the point in mentioning the eBay voting system, as there are defined rules for what you are voting for - and grammar is not one of the votes. Also, I'm talking about people whod rit e liek dis - a simple mistake here and there are, ofcourse, allowed. No one should chop your neck off for that reason. In fact, someone who'd give a -rep because of that should get -reps themselves. Tongue

As stated in my previous post, there are no rules for what we should base our reps on, it only says it needs a good reason. However, what is considered a good reason varies from person to person.

Jeremy-Bailey Wrote:6. Just be nice, and respect it. that's all I can think of.
Completely with you here, man! People should be nice to - and respect each other. Even if you're giving a -rep, try thinking of it as giving constructive criticism. A solid bashing would only go to show that you have little self control, and/or can't think things through. Wink
