RE: How to rep people!

No matter what country you are from, as long as you're in a country where you use the Latin alphabet, you should at least use proper punctuation and capital letters. Those are some of the first things everyone learns when they start learning to write. It's something everyone learns as a kid. So unless that someone lives in a country where they don't use the Latin alphabet, or that person has never correctly learned how to write, it's not really something you can overlook "because that person is younger than us", etc.

Also, "full right to spell like that" is simply encouraging bad grammar. If people do not correct you, it will take much longer before you realize that you're wrong - or you may never realize at all. Also, if someone directly confronts you with something, you're more likely to learn from it, because the brain remembers unpleasant things better than anything else. Also, grammar is what are the laws of writing, and for that, too, I must disagree with you on that point.

But yes, the TGC forum has a lot of bad grammar, and it is very annoying. That I definetly agree on!

Also, I encourage the use of proper grammar no matter where you write, as it helps you keep your grammar skills for when it's extra important, for example if you're writing an important letter to your boss, or writing a news report for some news paper. One thing is seeing bad grammar and stuff on forums, another thing is to see it in important texts - that's much worse, and it can even be bad for you.

I don't think people should be too harsh when telling someone they need to fix their grammar and spelling - unless that person has already been told several times, and does not listen.

PS: This post is not directed at anyone in particular, despite others naming member names. Since I have not been here for too long, there are obviously events that I have missed, and therefore I have no knowledge about them. I'm talking about the topic in general, here. Just wanted to make sure that this is clear to whoever reads this post. Smile
