I would suggest another method to producing your normal map, because creating a normal map from your diffuse will pick up a lot of "noise" - in the end it won't look as good as you can get it.
Method 1:
Sculpt a highpoly model of a wall. Make a normal map from that. Possibly overlay with weak images of stone texture normals.
Then create your diffuse and specular.
Method two:
Generate your normal map from a much "simpler" stone square image. The image should only contain "the general shapes" of the stones. Overlay with weak images of stone texture normals.
Then create your diffuse and specular.
These methods might take longer time, but will net you better results. If you want something "quick and dirty" your previous method is fine :]
