This is not true, maya 2011 or older is only required if you want to export animations.

Dae_FBX works fine.

The reason why your model has no texture is because you need to use materialeditor.exe to create a material for the model, set up your folder structure for the custom object and place your .dds textures in there, now in maya asign the .dds texture which is located within the amnesia directory to your model, this will make sure that maya exports the file with the correct texture path.

Next load up the materialeditor.exe and create a material, this is fairly simple.

Now save your new material out to the same folder as the diffuse texture and give it the exact same name. ( Only with the extention .mat instead of .dds )

SUCCESS! Your model should now be visible.
