RE: Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs Discussion Part 2

Want to share some of my thoughts. In the begging I was worried about AAMFP, because it seemed to me, that it hardly could be scarier and more atmospheric than ATDD, mostly because of the basic settings of both games, ATDD being in a dark foreboding gothic castle, and AAMFP mostly in a industrial setting of a meat factory. ATDD gothic architecture was very unnerving by default and I really didn't see, how the AAMPF setting could top the ominous atmosphere of the levels like the Choir, Transept and the Dungeon. Luckily, another classic, The Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth reminded me otherwise.

Last night, on my third playthrough in 8 years, I found myself playing the Marsh Refinery level, and my God, that is one of the most terrifying level I ever played, it is so mesmerizing that I could hardly bear it through. The most dreadful part is just before the first Shoggoth encounter, when you wonder through long corridors and have a vision of some fast monster backtracking you and crossing the same path you've crossed, and getting closer to you vision by vision, and all through the perspective of that monster. That was very very tense and even on my third try, and I find myself againg panickingly running around, praying I won't take a wrong turn.

This pretty much convinced me that it really could be scarier, and considering my faith in thechineseroom creative abilities, and Jessica's new track we heard two days back, which couldn't fit the theme more perfectly, I must say I'm looking forward for the game more now than before in February, when we all still believed that it will be released in Q1 Smile
